Citizen's Petition to
My U.S. Senators
I am writing to insist you oppose the rushed confirmation of Barack Obama's new National Labor Relations Board nominees, Nancy Schiffer and Kent Hirozawa.
Whereas:
Obama's NLRB has been working feverishly rewriting American labor law to give Big Labor more power,
more dues and more political clout; and
Whereas:
After popular outcry forced Barack Obama and Harry Reid to abandon the controversial nominations of Sharon Block and Richard Griffin, President Obama appeared to let powerful union bosses like Richard Trumka handpick the new nominees; and
Whereas:
Nominations to powerful
positions normally go through extensive background checks and public hearings, with time for the American people to review the nominees' records and exercise their right to petition the Senate for or against
confirmation; and
Whereas:
The rushed background check and committee hearing denied sufficient time to properly vet Nancy Schiffer and Kent Hirozawa; and
Whereas:
Both nominees have long careers as union lawyers and their limited vetting failed to reassure the American public that they will be able to decide cases fairly;
Therefore:
I urge you to oppose, on all votes, the confirmation of Nancy Schiffer and Kent Hirozawa to the National Labor Relations Board.
